“Set Sail!”: TIS LOGISTICS Sets Course for Team Building

On Saturday, June 21, our Moscow branch swapped its usual terminals and routes for sails and waves: the TIS LOGISTICS regatta took place on the waters of the Orekhovaya Bukhta Yacht Club (near the Pirogovsky Reservoir).

Almost all of the branch’s employees took part in the regatta—about thirty people, who formed five crews of five members each. The rest of their colleagues cheered from the shore: they supported the crews, enjoyed walks through the club’s picturesque grounds, and, of course, the club’s signature outdoor cuisine.

Right at the start of the competition, the participants were greeted by a club instructor, who explained in great detail what to do and how to behave on a sailing yacht. The usual crew positions were set aside: at the helm, on the mainsail, and on the staysail, there were only captains, sheet handlers, and helmsmen. During the race, crew members switched positions to try their hand at different roles. Everyone pitched in!

For most of them, this was their first experience with sailing, but the teams quickly gelled. “We worked together as a team: we now look back on a couple of unforeseen circumstances with a smile,” the participants note.

The main goal of the regatta was to improve teamwork and bring the team even closer together. For new employees, it was a great opportunity to get to know the team outside the office. Therefore, even though there was a final ranking, everyone unanimously agreed that the main outcome was the “Victory of Friendship.”

“The experience was unforgettable! It wasn’t just an active day on the water with the wind in our hair and a competitive spirit. Most importantly, we felt like a real team outside the office: we bonded, supported one another, and worked together toward a common goal. That’s what made the day truly special.”

The regatta was the first in the branch’s history—and certainly won’t be the last. The format proved its effectiveness: sailing a yacht as a team requires a clear division of roles, instant communication, and trust—the very qualities that help us deliver our customers’ shipments right on time every day.
